I'm still on the look out for a clump of nettles I can still to add to my garden.

Am I mad? Well yes, but that's another matter. They are great for certain butterflies and aphid-eaters!

Cor Aqui, I would plant them in a tub or pot rather than right in the ground, otherwise they will run all over the place!

Definitely part of the plan EJ. (I know they'll look weird, but they'll look better than a patch full of greenfly!)

Afraid I don't know latin name for them but does anyone remember 'dead' nettles, which have little white flowers?  They are very controllable, non stinging and attract the good insects at same time, if I remember rightly  :D

I think they're called Lamium.  I have some with pink flowers that seed themselves in my borders - they're not too invasive so I just pull them up after they're flowered when I need the space.  They don't sting.

they're the ones Gillian, pink or white.  They are so easy and have same effect, without sting in tail, so no need for dock leaves  ;D ;D ;D

I always leave a patch of nettles for the butterflies, also i use it for feeding my toms, better than chemicals.
No flies on this Northern nutter  ;D i think, just check, nope none  ;D

Listen to the current Gardeners Question Time - the bloke from Holland on the panel mentioned ground elder is nice in omlettes, but beware, it is a laxative. Eric Robson thought that ground elder would have the last word!!!!
