They wouldn't be Polestar by any chance, would they Tim ???? The few beans that are setting on my one Polestar plant, where the birds haven't pecked out the flowers, look just like your runners ::).

I'm growing Blue Lake in a wigwam with just one Polestar on an extra cane through the centre. Quite by chance though, I have noticed that the sparrows love the red flowers of the runners but are leaving the french beans alone 8).  I shall certainly do this again next year  - I prefer french beans and only planted the Polestar as it was left over from plants I'd raised for my friend. He prefers runners!

At least I don't have to bend - such as they are, they are all high up!

I'm still envious, Tim. Blackfly have pretty well done for my entire crop. No beans at all so far :'(

You could dry them off and use them as hooks for shark fishing.
