Allotments 4 All

Cycling along the cycle path by a main road today, found some trees laden with these small dark cherries. 
They aren't very sweet but I suppose that's why the birds haven't eaten them.


Felt like I was gathering treasure.  The people who walked and cycled by seemed intrigued.  Cooking some up to have ice cream tonight - :P

They look like what we called "cooking cherries" as kids although maybe some people call them bird cherries... Do they make your face screw up and your eyes water when eaten raw? Ours did, but when cooked they were amazing.

What a lovely colour too - hope you enjoyed them!

A typical cooking cherry is ' Cherry Crown Morello '
