Lorna (jnr) is arranging a day out in London including a flight on the London Eye in September for my birthday. On top of that she has today booked a day out to Hatfield House and Gardens on 11th June. (only the two of us going to Hatfield House).Has any one been there? It looks quite interesting on their web site.

Yes I have Lorna, it's just up the road from here.  I've not been for many a year but last time I did I was very impressed with their beautiful herb garden.  They also have some wonderful country craft fairs.  I hope you have a lovely birthday.  :)

Thanks Georgie. Birthday is not until Sept but my lovely daughter loves giving me surprises ;D. I didn't expect an outing in June as we are going on holiday to IOW on 17th June. Will try and take some decent pics of the gardens.

What a lovely family you have lorna.  A brilliant Birthday Treat to look forward to.  Have a lovely time in the Isle of Wight too.  :) busy_lizzie

Yes I have Lorna, it's just down the road from here. It should be lovely at this time of year, like G. says look for the herb garden :D I hope you have good weather but if not, there's always the house - I've never made it there yet but friends tell me it's well worth the tour. Lucky gal you are!

Yup, just along the road from me, too.  Advice? Take loads of cash, the traders aren't offering bargains. The same goes for the coffee shop (£1.50 for a can of diet coke, anyone?)

Be prepared to walk across uneven ground from the fields where you are directed to park. You won't have to walk far, but if you have any mobility issues (in the nicest possible way!! I'm not being insulting, promise!) then disabled parking is closer to the event.

I've never been in the house, but am familiar with the stables area. The grounds and land are beautiful and hopefully you will have a sunny day. Enjoy.

Thanks supersprout and bennetsleg. We are actually going with local coach firm  so hope where they park is convenient. Methinks we will take our own drink ;D Providing my sciatica doesn't kick in I am OK for long walks. We thought it would be boring for Joshua (11) so just daughter Lorna and me.. I will take pain killers with me, I did the same when Lorna took me to Brussels last year , keeps any pain under control!! :) I love Joshua big time but it is lovely now and again to have Lorna all to myself. Well she is my baby (35) ;D ;D
I am really pleased you all have good memories of the place.
