DO NOT plant one near to the corner of a patio (which is sinking - no wonder) nor next to a concrete based washing line post.

some stupid @rse has and i'm having to dig out both !!!!

the leylandi root is about as thick as the OH's thigh !!!! and none of the saws i've got are sharp enough to cut through it.

the post is now in the way of me getting underneath the tree and i'm waiting for a gullible willing helper to wander down the path to help me drag it.

all i wanted to do was use the bl00dy neighbour's raised bed for some flowers and thought i may as well do the job properly.

Boy, do we know that feeling! All I wanted to do was to plant a yew hedge along the boundary of the garden to give eventually some wind break. It has taken a week of heavy digging to clear out a trench  one metre wide and 5 metres long. I have taken two car loads of broeken bricks, glass, tin cans etc to the tip and salvaged enough 'cobbles' (rounded rocks like you find on beaches) to do another alpine growing feature. Still I did lose a few pounds in weight doing it. Have fun!!!!

just cracked open a can of beer to give me strength. lol

at least with a bit of luck i'll get a tan if the sun stays out long enough.

i almost gave up and was gonna phone a handyman who's leaflet came through the door this morning but thought nah to heck with it, it's doing me good !!!!

my idea is that if i dig deep enough, sooner or later i'll get underneath the stump and manage to rock it !!!  (at least that's the theory).

oh cheers mate !!!  just what i needed to hear.  i've already phoned the handyman but no answer  >:(

i've cleared a hole to one side of it and can get the fork through under it, but i need a heavy duty saw now  to lop through some of the roots.

am giving up for the day and gonna do some gentle planting.  ;D

still sunny but a bit cold when i stop working, then as soon as i start up again the fleece comes off and the vest is out  ;D ;D ;D

oh AND done the front lawn too.  isn't this what bank holidays are for  ?    8)

Is that another first harvest - the radishes I mean - tho I suppose the rootball would qualify ;D ;D

they were yummy ......... i thought i'd slip them in here so tim didn't see  ;D

not actually sure i've left them long enough as there should be more of a white bit at the end, but who's gonna tell ?   lmao   ;D
