Meant to go this year but older son is in the middle of GCSEs and need to stand over him to get any revision at all done :(  If anyone's going please can they go and blow raspberries at the W S Warmenhoven display on my behalf - I've sent them 2 e-mails now about sending me the wrong tulips and it's been 3 weeks without a reply. >:( >:( >:(  As OH said, they get their gold medal for the display, not for service.

would love to go ... even dropped loads of hints to OH about a b'day trip and booked Friday off work but has fallen on deaf ears  :( :(

Getting lots of inspriration from their small gardens

Really enjoying it this year.  I would love to visit it.  My sister lives in London but is moving back to the North East in 2007, so next year is  really our last convenient opportunity to go, when we can stay with her.  Must make the push as it has always been my dream - would be great to see the show gardens.  I know people say you see more on TV, but it must be brilliant to soak up the atmosphere of it all. busy_lizzie

Svea, you're not in the National Army Museum are you?

ACE

I had to give it a miss this year, too busy. But what good coverage on the telly. I know its not the same watching it on the box, but at least I can stay dry.

nope, but just a few houses further down
i had to fight my way through the masses yesterday morning and afternoon - sigh! if only people who carry plants and spikey things would manage to not use the whole pavement! on their own!

Yes, I was working at the "NAM" in May a few years ago, it put me off going to the flower show for life

Robert_Brenchley

I have to be in London on Saturday for an examiners' meeting, and I got a tale of woe from the hotel booking agency about the problems they're having finding rooms while the Flower Show's on. They got me what I needed in the end, but it show's how popular it is.

I went yesterday & had a lovely time but felt a bit pushed timewise this year. Having always gone for afternoon tickets I think I'm doing the full day next year. The weather was a bit of a damper but went in just after the enormous hailstorm & the real rain didn't set in until just before we left. Not as many gardens but generally better - the Daily Telegraph best in show was a stunner. Had a chat with Chris Beardshaw who was so approachable & available to talk - his garden was beautiful. The exhibits in the pavilion were cracking - kid in sweetie shop time. It's a relief you can't buy much - packet of Fat Boy lavender seeds.

The BBC coverage has been much better. Carol Klein's daily tours of the pavilion are spot on!

It's a dream of mine to be able to attend. My mother and father will be there tomorrow afternoon, I am sooooo jealous! Will be good fun trying to spot them in crowds!

Love all the gardens, bet they're better in real life!

Did any one think Tom Stuart Smith's planting was very similar to what he did last year?

I'm going.... Tommorow! And can't wait! 1st time last eyar and loved it so much that I just had to go again! It's a great show, pricey but worth it as you'll always have memories of it. I bought my Mum a ticket for it 4 Mothers Day so will be going together. All the best, Dan ;-)

Nice to hear from you again Dan2.  Hope you have a brilliant time! :) busy_lizzie

Flossie I am officially a guerilla gardener - can''t remember my troop number. Have planned my first job which is the youth shelter near my allotment.  As well as flowers I am going to plant out some pumpkins and cabbages for them. I expect the worst so won't be surprised if it is wrecked and the things I plant are pulled out, but you never know, in between drinking cider they might discover gardening.  :D busy_lizzie

Thanks for the replies about the guerilla gardening I am really interested, often look at neglected areas and wonder what could be done to improve them.  Am having difficulty getting to the weblink but will keep trying.
