on radio 4 's the Food Programme on April 2nd. Very interesting for all of us out there who refuse to grow F1 seed and are trying to keep old varieties going. I urge you to listen to it :-*/angle shades x

katy,
I listened to it yesterday :D go to radio 4  homepage and look for the food programme and april 2nd edition , its about growing food in Africa, how expensive
it is to keep seeds on on the national seed list, and how supermarket varieties
are keeping heirloom varieties off the list. It costs £1,000 a year to keep one variety on the list :o :o, very interesting programme/ shades x

Anyway looking for some veg for tea.

Asparagus - Kenya

French beans - Gambia

Runner Beans - Kenya

Brocolli/Cauli - Spain

Carrots - spain.

Found one variety of carrots from UK and some potatos and spring greens - that was all... So thats what we had for tea!

Yep...I am known at our local Tesco as "that mad apple woman" I suspect! I was brought up in Kent, I know about all the different varieties there are. I go for apples and it's all French, NZ, South African etc etc...so I complain.

Is it just me? I do not expect lovely autumn apples in february, do not expect lots of things thay have, but the apple thing drives me to distraction.

OK...rant over...breathe...

HDRA, Grow Organic's Hertage seed library is for you... and I agree with you Katie, have a Discovery, Fiesta, Egremont and Blenhiem and an apple store..
