Only one of my butternut squash seeds has germinated.  Do i need more than one plant to get an squashes or will this plant produce male and female flowers.

Can anyone advise please.

Think they produce both Alit.

thats good.  i don't have a lot of room, so one plant will be just fine.  Thanks for advice.

Never grown this before so i don't know how many to grow. How many fruits would you expect to get from one plant ?

i grew some last year and i don't remember getting that many from each plant.  and i thought they were not going to produce any squashes at all as they just grew green stuff for weeks, then all of a sudden started producing squashes.  i was so pleased.  But not too many i recall.

Many thanks, alit, will plant a few then.

I usually get 6-8 per plant!

Onre plant will produce both male and female flowers but more plants will increase the chances both are produced at the same time.

Yield is between 3 to 8 fruit per plant depending on variety and whether you stop the plant fater 2 or 3 fruit per stem.

One trick is to hand polinate the fruit as this also increases the potential yield I find.
