good beetle or bad beetle?  Do I rescue it or let it drown or is it quite happy doing numerous lengths of the pool?

i wasn't sure if he was going to suck the life out of my lilies but he seems quite happy just splashing about.  i'm also waiting for one of the pigeons to have him for breakfast !

Oh, I see where you are coming from.  No, the Lily Beast is red and much smaller and they will be far too busy munching the lillies to do a couple of lengths ;D

There's not enough visible to say what sort it is.

he didn't hang around for pics after i gave him a towel to dry off and let him loose.

i'm assuming he'll be grateful to me for liberating him and will leave all the plants alone.
