Allotments 4 All

Really pleased with the plot today. One year on from starting very happy with all our hard work. Not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but this time last year I didn't even know what end to hold the spade. Gardening had never interested me before, now I'm hooked. We have even started growing our own plants from home to transfer to the allotment.
The second image is of a few plants we bought last year, my wife says its cauliflowers. They have nothing forming in the center, I thought the label said cauliflower sprouting. Is there such a plant and what can we expect from them. The larger ones are about 3ft across and 2ft high.

Well I'm learning as I go along, well both of us. My wife has just as much interest as myself.
This photo is from behind the purple sprouting in first photo. The larger broad bean plants were put in  November as seeds, the smaller ones planted at home about 4 weeks ago. The peas and sugarsnap peas in the distance were also grown at home and transplanted, gooseberry bushes are coming on as well. My garlic was planted last year, also in the distance are carrots under the boxes (sugarsnax variety) beetroot and spring onions.
It has definitely been easier this year, so all you new allotment holders, keep going it will get easier and better.

Nice one, dirkdigger.  You are right, it does give hope to us first formers ;D

I've done some planting, but mostly its still diggin' and weedin'.....sigh...

you & mrs dd should be really proud ......your plot is looking fantastic & i also noticed my garlic is coming along nicely ;) ;D

Hoping to have some photos of my little seedlings in the next few days, planted some lemon cucumbers about 6 days ago, popped their heads out already.
I cant beleive I'm enjoying it so much. Even thinking of building my own lean-to greenhouse for next year. ( I did say thinking mind!!!!)

Your plot does look wonderful DD and your soil looks in fantastic condition - no wonder everything is growing so well.  You must feel great satisfaction at how well things are doing  - a great inspiration to eveyone!  :) busy_lizzie

I'm sure it will Cowellen, as they always tell us a little and often. Sometimes we only stay 30 Min's, other times 3-4 hours.
But we love the veg it puts on our plates so thats incentive enough. Hoping for a better crop of carrots this year, not to good last year.

hmm but what seeds do i buy :-\

Any peas will sprout into pea shoots (even mangetout/sugar snap) - ideal use for surplus peas ;D Even supermarket dried peas (for making mushy peas) will do!!! :o ;)

Are there none available near you GW ? You wont regret it, best thing I've done for ages(since my rugby days and that was many many years ago). Contact the local council see if any available nearby ?
