Hi all!
Tomorrow will be two months since I started on my brand new and very overgrown allotment. Today saw the very final piece of turf taken off and if I have to be honest I would not wish the job of cutting and stripping turf off by hand to ANYONE!!!!!!! :o :o :o.
The satisfaction I will feel tomorrow when I go to my lottie knowing I will not have to cut and strip any turf will be unimaginable! ;D.
I have already planted some Rhubarb on my plot and the strawberry bed has been double dug too. The wooden pallets at the end of my plot is full to the brim with lovely fresh horse manure and will be ready for next winter when I plant quite a few fruit bushes. All in all I'm quite pleased on how it has gone, now comes the exciting bit of planning what will go where!!. ;D

Well done Neil...  Looks like you will have some nice topsoil when all the turfs rot down.
Take time to stop and smell the flowers.

vee

Well done! you've really made a difference. It will be so much easier from now on.

kenkew

Now that's what it's all about! Well done.

grawrc

Kenkew sorry but I disagree! That's the first and painful stage (although certainly enjoyable especially in retrospect).

For me what it's all about is the little green shoots pushing through the soil, the robin jumping off your fork onto the bugs and worms and the sound of peace and birdsong. Then the harvesting.

blimey Neil ... well done, looking great.

Good grief!!  Magnificent effort.

Nice flat plot next door, could you extend there too?  ;D
