This is meant to be the 'alternative' happy Christmas thread, for those like myself who don't wish to observe Christmas ...

This is traditionally a time for reflection, and it has certainly been an incredible year for me, possibly the most profound of my life ... I have also had voiced disagreements with some members (and also some silent ones), but stepping aside from the inference from the title of this thread, I wish to observe the seasonal charity, and wish every single one of you, peace and goodwill.

There, done it ... I can go back to being grumpy again now  ;D

Humbug to all the commercialism, certainly!

djbrenton

Christmas exists to make sure only the strong survive for the January sales.

Derekthefox

Ha ha  I tend to avoid the sales too, I see it as all part of the same hype ...

Isn't that when you take up residence in the local coffee shop and watch the world fight past in the scrum outside?   ;D

cleo

oh just my thread ;D

Why oh why do I send Christmas cards to;

1-people I am in regular contact with?

2-people that I am not.

No point in either really is there?

Bah Humbug.

Happy christmas  ;D

Derekthefox

Welcome to my happy corner Cleo, I have solved that problem by just not sending cards ...

Derekthefox :D

djbrenton

You're really missing out by not sending Xmas cards Derek. There's a lot of fun to be had.

1 Send extravagant cards to people who you know won't have sent you one. Send them so late they've no chance of responding. They'll feel guilty and will send you a good card next year, when, of course, you won't send them one.

2 Send the cheapest ones you can find just after Christmas to anyone who sent you a decent one in an effort to offend them into not sending you one next year.

3 It's always a good wheeze to drop cards through all your neighbours doors on Xmas Eve, thereby ensuring a guilty start to Christmas Day for them.

4 Recycle cards. Cross out the greeting and send cards back to the sender next year.

See! I bet you'll start sending cards now you realise the upset they can cause.  ;D

Well, I've taken the bull by the horns, and have told everyone I see regularly that I'm not giving  them out this year, their reaction? Relief and joy through the street!! I'm still sending them to those mates/relatives that live away, but that's it!! And goats all round!! Toilet for Brother though..... have years of being baby sis to make up for... ;D ;)
