Hi Sam,

What state was your Leckwith plot in, when you took it?  I was hoping to get a plot in Tremorfa (Rover Way) but they have been neglected by CCC (as there have been so many shed-thefts and produce is constantly disappearing - I hear that the Travelling Community in that area don't often shop for produce in the Supermarkets!).  I now 'commute' to Colchester Avenue (Howardian School), where the security is good, the Allotment Secretary fantastic, and the 'Neighbours' are friendly, jovial, and all to ready to give me the benefit of their experience.

My plot is roughly 16 m square, soggy clay, fortunately covered, but with deep-rooted perennial weeds and an ornamental tree which I am not allowed to interfer with.

Leckwith in good nick?

Hi,
Had our allotment in Surrey for about 3 months now, had not been used for 6 years so have been clearing ready for the spring, removing turf and digging and weeding seems to be all we have done.

Have just prepared an area for some raspberries to go in soon as I have read somewhere on here that now is the time to plant them?
Hope so.

Welcome to A4A Marjrie. We are really lucky to have such a good crowd of  people who can solve nearly all the problems and questions that we members may ask..
Enjoy but I always warn newcomers this site is addictive. Best wishes Lorna.

For all the Newbies to Allotments 4 All site there was a whole thread, think it was in 'the shed' on personal profiles  (put personal profiles) into search and it will come up......................all 17 pages of it.  I think it came to a grinding halt cos instead of people putting in their own profiles it became a bit of a chat.  Still it makes interesting reading.
Take time to stop and smell the flowers.

The new kitchen is now the centre of the house - we eat in there as a family every day.

All done now (thank god) - now the painting begins

I thought you were a cheese fan!
Make the most of today, because you'll never have it back again.

Hello there, a new person here.

I got a letter from the council this morning offering me an allotment, I have not even been to see it yet.   Hoping it will be in decent condition but no doubt it will be very overgrown.

The allotment is in Bushy Park, Hampton Hill.   Anybody else there?

Looking forward to chatting to you all.

Hello UG

Good news about your plot.  Hope it will be a perfectly well tended idyll  ;D
Doubt it though but don't worry just enjoy it and remember it's for fun  :)

UG Hi, welcome to A4A. Great site. You will get plenty of advice (and laughs) Good luck

Jimbo

Hi UG!

Welcome aboard.  I'm a relative newbie (had my lottie for nearly two months).  You got it just at the right time of year, I reckon.  Provided you get some dry weather to tidy it up, and do a bit of digging, you'll be all set for Spring.

Let us know how the plot is!
