Once you have a committee for your association sid, I would suggest you approach the police and ask them to assist by giving guidance on crime prevention. I believe the police will welcome this proactive approach. If the allotment land is rented from the council or similar, then they should also have sound advice, and may be able to offer other assistance too.

Good luck

Good advice, Derek.

You could call your local Police Force / Divisional HQ, and ask to speak to the Crime Prevention Officer for your area.  I have had some experience in these matters, and they would be a good starting point.

On our site we asked the local Community Patrollers to visit us and asked for advice and also if they would include our site in their patrols especially in the school holidays. If you have any contact with the surrounding houses it might be worth asking them to inform the police/community patrollers if they see anything going on. It's definitely worthwhile reporting any vandal activity to the police so that it appears on their statistics - they are more likely to do something then.
Good luck with it, I know it's really horrible when vandals spoil what has taken so long to achieve.

Can't add to the above. Just wanted to say good luck Sid.

Try the Crime Reduction Website for South Yorkshire Police.

http://www.southyorks.police.uk/departments/communitysafety/crimereduction/

Some UK Police Forces are not great at giving direct telephone numbers on their websites, but South Yorkshire are not one of those - 01302 385472  - this number should put you through to their Crime Prevention Team.

Good luck, and 'Evenin' All'!

Sid, so sorry to hear that.  Makes you wonder whether alloment societies should just get in paid security  :(

Running them over with car seems to be the preferred option.
