Allotments 4 All

Its getting cold outside and my feet are getting cold in my wellies. I want to get some big wooly liners for them like I did when I was a kid.

Anybody have any idea where to look for them?

I've been to a couple of garden centres and outdoor shops without any luck. I thought they'd make good Christmas presents as well.

used to be able to get some things that were called wellington socks they were like a slipper that went inside the wellie, tryed last year to get some without any luck. I do not know what the solution is to cold feet in wellies , hope some one has good idea somewhere on here

I've seen those, but was thinking of something a bit different. When I was little I had a pair of wellies that had a wooly liner and turnover at the top of the boot. You wore normal socks and just slipped your feet into them.

Wellie socks seem a bit fussier, as you have to faff about a bit.

Try some nice big rugby socks, JE.  They can normally reach the tops of your wellies, and can be folded back over.  Generally nice and warm too.

I ve seen just what you mean at Gardeners World this year, they were knitted or fleecy all different colours and turned over the top of your wellies, off to work in a minute but will try to find details in the guide book for you later!!

I found something similar on this website while I was looking for new wellies . Oh b## can't paste!Just put in wellywarmers in google and it should come up. hope this helps in your search. I have a really old pair of furlined wellies I bought in  Canada about 25 years ago and they have been great for the allotment after being unused for the last 23 and lurking in the garage, but now I think I need new ones as they have heels and I get laughed at! ;D

Yep found them too - wellywarmas into google and Bobs your Uncle, might be perfect for some Chrissy pressies!!!

You can get them from farming stores such as CWG. They are like slippers which fit nicely inside your wellies.

I can just see you in the lace up ones Tim.  I have purple ankle length ones that zip up.  Very fetching.

I must have the most ludicrously extravagent footwear for the lottie. Some few (ahem many) years ago I used to do a lot of mountaineering. I'd just bought a £200 pair of 4 season boots from Berghaus when I wrecked an ankle playing ice hockey. Never once worn in anger they're now my lottying boots.

If you're going dressed to impress I recommend a Barbour.
