This thread has become very silly - ;D - I am giggling like mad.

Anyone know the modern chorus set to Beethoven's 9th?  That's pretty appalling.  But some of the oldies are just as bad ... who remembers "Jesus wants me for a sunbeam"?  My mum used to sing it in church when she was a little girl (she's 77 now) - a few years ago we went to a church where they still sing it.

But my all-time favourite has to be the one which goes:

Oh for a man
Oh for a man
Oh for a mansion in the sky!

Very funny  ;D

I used to laugh at school in assembly when "Jesus bids a shine" was being crucified

"Like a lickle cangle burning in the night" used to get sung in our school  :)
I came, I saw, I composted

If you don't make mistakes, you'll never make anything!

The Sower's always been regarded as a parable, though I agree it's not a particularly typical example. It's interpreted allegorically in the Gospels, but how do we know that's the original intent and not just something Mark or his source has tacked onto it?

I often wondered what a "dance settee" was.   Lord of the Dance.

Dance, then, wherever you may be,
I am the Lord of the Dance, settee,
And I'll lead you all, wherever you may be,
And I'll lead you all in the Dance, settee

I puzzled and puzzled that as a child but thankfully being shy, I never asked.
