So who has had frost already this autumn?

I must say it was a pretty cold night here in Dorset last night. Down to 2.5c at one stage. Very unusual for mid september down this way. Dont know if it trully counts as a frost though? Didnt appear to do any damage to non hardy plants so maybe it wasnt.

Which leads me to my second enquiry. What actualy does count as a frost? How should we define it (from a gardening point of veiw)? I would be interested to find out.

There was a good gardening forecast on metcheck, but they don't yet have frostcast back on it. Dewpoint, whatever that is, may affect frost I think.

Frost is anything cold enough to freeze water. It's the damage done by the freezing which harms plants.
