Can I grow pomegranets from seed? I'm sitting here munching on one. Is it worth saving some of the seeds?

I would presume that the pomegranate you are eating has probably originated somewhere in the middle east, in which case it will not be suited to the UK climate (guessing here). I have no idea whether there are any varieties that can be grown in the UK. There is no harm in trying 'just for fun'.

I have grown 7 plants from Tesco's pomegranates seeds.  They have formed small shrubs so far.
Emma Jane offered some advice in an earlier thread somewhere on the A4A site, & basically if memory serves she said they are deciduous but will tolerate English winters outdoors.  I'm optimistic that mine will survive out all winter in a sheltered spot behind the greenhouse and then I hope to pot them on next year before finally planting them out in spring 2007 and seeing if I get a crop at all sometime after that.

If they die this winter, we will know one part of the answer :'(; if they fruit in 2008 we will know the other part ;D!

Ooh thanks. I managed to resist eating them all so will sow a few and see what transpires!
