Thought I would show you the beautiful purple heather in full bloom just outside our village.  Bleak place but lovely this time of year.

:o Wow, lucky you, fancy having that on your doorstep, where's the envious emoticon? ;D

Diana

Is that the Lammermuirs? Used to live near there.

The Grampians look great just now too - makes getting up early to take the dog for a walk really worth while. When I turn the corner + see the hills clothed in purple I just think "Hmm, I live here!" rather smuggly.

If anyone's envious/jealous, be content with the fact if you live south of me you can grow more than I can!

What a stunning view.  Great pic. thankyou. Lorna.

Thanks folks.  The area is called Greenlaw Moor or Hule Moss.  Diana, I suppose at one time this would join onto the Lammermuirs, but there is now farms and other cultivated areas in between this and the Lammermuir Hills.  Where did you live before?   Longformacus, Cranshaws or elsewhere?

If I had something like that on my doorstep I'd be harvesting lots of lovely heather honey.

Marianne

Absolutely gorgeous !  ;D
Enjoy today to the full.  You are not sure of a tomorrow.

Robert
My relative  Willie Robson of Chainbridge Honey Farm, nr Berwick on Tweed, Northumberland places his hives there among many other places!!!  Have you heard of this Farm? Tweedside Honey  We also have fields of borage round about and I really really like honey from borage.  I eat too much honey Robert.  I must consume a jar within 8 days, got told off by my doc, but I dont get many colds. I cant get going in a morning without my quota of Honey  mmmmm

Robert_Brenchley

I haven't heard of this specific farm, but heather honey is very well known among beekeepers; it has to be treated differently to any other sort when it comes to extracting it from the comb since, as I'm sure you know, it's a jelly not a liquid.

Carol - have just read your post about the honey and how much you enjoy eating it but am puzzled why your Dr. should tell you off for eating so much (well maybe it is rather a lot) I thought honey was one of the best possible things you could eat having medicinal properties - the only reason I can think of I suppose is the sugar/calorie content!!

Carol

Well the reason is, I had a blood glucose test done for Diabetes and the blood count was above normal so was advised by my Doc. after I told her I ate loads of Honey to cut down a bit!!!   That was 2004 but am afraid my honey quota is back up again.  I think maybe I am a Honey addict!!! wonderful stuff

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
