Allotments 4 All

Just wanted to say thanks to the many peeps on here who reccomended that I grow Burpless Tasty Green cuke. Have 2 plants in grow-bags at home and one on the lottie, and have already had 2 delicious cukes, and have several more growing on both plants at home!

Well I'm just off now to make a Greek Salad with the latest one! Can't wait to have it with home-grown toms  ;D

Did I get my cuke seed from you Moggle or was it Multiveg?  Anyway mine are BTG and I've just harvested my third with two still left on as we're having a do on the lotty on Saturday - a kind of harvest festival.  Not organised by lotty society but by a few lotty holders and friends for National Lotty Week  :)

Congrats on your cues too.  They are very crunchy aren't they  :)

Mine are very tasty, much more flavour than the supermarket ones.

They are too  :)   I'm very pleased with mine as I've never had much luck growing cues of any description.  I think the ones you grow yourself outdoors are crunchier  :)

I shall be growing MORE cukes next year as they are crunchy and

actually have a taste to them - unlike supermarket slushy types :-X

This is my first year growing cukes - I've grown them in my

greenhouse and I am very happy with the results :D

I too have to agree....I grew Burpless Tasty Green on the recommendation of Tim....Thank you kind sir, they have been great, and are still producing!!

I have to say I agree with you all - outdoor cucs much better in sandwiches as well cos the bread doesn't go all wet and doughy!

Mine are Long Green Ridge and have been amazing.  Got another 3 today andloads more coming!

Me too - probably wouldn't have tried them without this site. Am growing mine outside on my plot - have been in production for over 2 weeks now.
Small grandson aged 5 arrives on Saturday - one of the few things he likes is cucumber, can't wait to see his face when I take him to pick one for himself  :D

So, we're all agreed that home grown cues are great!  Isn't it good when everyone agrees on something.  Very uplifting thread this one.

I'm off now to  admire my cues and give them a bit of tlc as I need them to be in good fettle for eating this weekend  :)

i picked a cue for my lunch this morning, on my way to pick up the bike (bike is parked on allotment). hmmmmmm :D

Me either Periwinkle, I thought they would be difficult. They have actually been quite easy to grow  :)

Right I just found the original thread where I asked,  and it was the following lovely board members that I particularly wanted to thank, cos they reccomended BTG - Merry Tiller, Nikkrud, philcooper, cleo, MagpieDi, Tim and Ina  :)

and also I think a big thankyou to Tim for his enlightening pictures at expense of nice plants to illustrate side shoots, main shoots, pinching out, big and little shoots, flowers, rottening etc.

Made what seemed confusing quite easy and I'm sure has and still is resulting in my healthy crop.

Got my first cucumber glut - picked one perfect sized one today, followed by a monster hiding in the foliage that I'd missed, then 5 large gherkin/mini cue size on a plant that didn't grow properly......lots more coming along .....ridiculously pleased..... ;D ;D ;D
