is it too late for me to sow some Kale seeds?

Also how long do you leave them in the seed bed before planting out?

they dont suffer from pests like most brassicas do they?

any advice would be gratefully received.

Not too late I would say, they wont get huge but will still be fine.

They can suffer from butterfly/pigeon attack so I net all my brasicas. I also use cabbage collars.

The other main pest is Club Root, if you have that in your soil have a search here for ideas.

I sow in modules or pots and transplant when they have a couple of true leaves.

I'm just about to sow some kale. Will leave it in seed bed until it gets 4 to 5 leaves then plant out. Do seem to be a bit more pest resistant than, say cabbages.
The kale stands well overwinter I find.

Sowed some in modules a couple of weeks ago - redbor I think it was, and the black one...nero...  They have a couple of true leaves now, so will be out on the plot tomorrow.  Did the same last year, and the plants provided us with young leaves for salad during the autumn and lovely rich irony leaves for the winter and spring.  They finally went to seed in March/April, just in time for me to oik them out and plant spuds in their place.
