Canon Powershot A70 - screen suddenly went purple wiggles - new batteries - now shows nothing. Downloaded photos OK but new ones are just black.

Please??

PS Just reloaded with old rechargeables & the purple striations are back.

Tim, I think you're describing a very common problem associated with the A70...

Have a google on 'Canon A70 problems' or a variant of that, and you can read the full user reports - a lot of unhappy people.

Seems the camera lasts a year or two, then either the E18 fault (indicating a 'dropped' camera) appears, or the screen (purple/hazy purple) goes haywire, shortly before the camera pegs it. Is it under warranty?

Thank you. So sorry not to acknowledge that sooner -  what with the camera & the freezer packing up, I've been going round in circles!

Warranty - sadly no! Pity - I like the camera!
