Over the last week or so my celery (Victoria self blanching, 12" high - so far looking good....) have started to droop a few of their 'sticks' - only the odd few - is this due to the recent high temperatures or lack of water (have been watering at least once a day like a good boy!) or it is just them telling me its time to wrap them up in brown paper and blanch them! Any donations of knowledge gratefully received! PS!If its not the time to blanch them - can someone tell me when it is please! ???

Do they recover? Ours flop & then revive.

Do you know how much water you give them - each?? Most folk can't water but, if you do, you need to count out at least a litre each - I think.

And no need to wrap if they're 8" spaced. They won't ever be as crispy white as trenched & wrapped, but they are worth it!

Thanks for that Tim - didnt realise they were THAT greedy!!!! And yes, when a good watering has taken place they do seem to revive a bit. They are about 8" apart - if i do blanch them does this improve the flavour?

tim

They are 'self- blanching'?? Note the commas!

No - to my mind, the flavour doesn't alter - just the aesthetics.
