Gorgeous scarecrows EJ!!

It reminded me of a post I saw on another site about two years ago, the instructions are still there but the pic is long gone, and this was the only pic I could find! The lady who wrote the following instructions used her jeans planter for outdoor pots, I keep meaning to make one using little'uns old jeans so that he can plant something in them, I think I will this Sunday!!!

First of all, I bought a gallon of elmers glue from my local lumber yard
( this makes several pairs of lil planters). I got a bucket, and turned my
jeans inside out, and poured some glue on them, then turned them right side,
and did the same thing to that side. I made sure they were fairly
saturated. I stuffed the legs with plastic sacks, not too full though, just
to make it look like a lil kid is wearing them. ( you can also use tin foil
inside) Once these were nearly dried, I attatched the tennis shoes to the
bottoms of the jeans. If there cloth ones they seem to work better, or stay
attatched better. I also saturate the lil shoes with the glue too. After
all this is done, and they are dry, then I take polyurathane, and apply it
with a sponge brush, to the inside, and also to the outside. I do this
about 3 times, letting each coat dry.
The first pair I did, i did those steps and someone had said to use resin on
them ( which is very expensive) so I did, and my other ones are just as
strong, as the one I did with resin, so now I just use the polyurathane.
I prefer using, no bigger than a 18 months on my
planters. The longer the legs of the jeans are, the harder they seem to be
to balance.

(I googled "elmers glue", and it sounds like the normal white PVA stuff!)

Great scarecrows, they must have been fun to make, but i wouldnt like to catch a glimpse of one in the corner of my eye as its starting to go dark. :o  ;D

aquilegia

They do look great. But that would scare me off the lottie (scarecrow fear!)
gone to pot :D

BAGGY

Is there a medical term for 'scarecrowphobia'? or is that it?

:o That will work a treat Emma, it scared me :o on occasions I keep seeing my green tumbleweed bin out the corner of my eye and think it's Dr Who and the Darlecks :o ;D "Exterminate" ;D

Wicker

Emma the male (?) one is really realistic around the legs - look at the way "he" is standing - I had to look again to see that it wasn't someone with with the head covered! Creepy..

Great family photo too and will sure add to the childhood memories
