BAGGY

I would prefer mine to be completely weed free and in straight line (to an extent) - but it is neither.  We mark out a row but as i sow feet either side of the row and walk backwards in invariably ends up as straight as a donkey's doodah  ;D
Get with the beat Baggy

Higgledy Piggldy is deffo the way I'm going - but do I care, nope not a bit  ;D

my rows have more dog legs than battersea dog's home

thomasb

I like my veg in neat-straight rows.....much easier to arrange stuff.

supernan

:) My allotment is going to be like my house, garage, and shed, stuffed full of useful stuff that I either can't find or use all of!!!!
Supernan!!

Mimi

I know that it is a bit neurotic but I like the straight rows... just like things tidy  I'm afraid.  Then I can keep an eye on things. ;D
Take time to stop and smell the flowers.

The flower beds are totally higgledy-piggledy. I don't like formal gardens, much prefer natural look. I also jam things in, so hopefully there isn't room for weeds! (some weeds are pretty - so I leave them as long as they don't cause a problem!)

Veg beds I try to go for lines. Although I'm trying block planting this year as I don't have room. Nothing I ever do ends up neat, though!
gone to pot :D

Lazybones

I would just love to have dug over enough to be able to see if I am planting in rows/blocks or whatever else my spade decides to do that day.  ;D

No, honestly, I am planting in blocks - they started off as rows but I am like some others and it looks like I have been digging after a few too many glasses of wine.

The way I see it is as long as it grows, who cares!!!

mitzzy

well I had a plan drawn up in winder and I have just thrown it  away ! I have found as I clear it that it has evolved by  it's self.

Want mine to look colourfull  as well as practical :)

Mags
new allotment owner excuse my ignorance !

Anne Robertson

The stuff I plant are in straight rows and my OH's efforts are crooked. The two Bills (old Bill - 89yrs & young Bill - 84yrs) wonder down and ask me how much he'd had to drink when he did the planting  ;D.

gavin

My rows are ram-rod straight - it's the world that's crooked! ;D

All best, Gavin

I have got myself a smart new line so I can plant in rows.  Not used it yet as I found a stick and used that instead.  I will plant in straight rows for some things to make weeding easier.  You could plant in squares or circles even but keep a bit of space just the same for weeding.  I have done my mixed salad just haphazardly with some marigold seeds mixed in so hopefully it will look pretty too.

I came, I saw, I composted

Justy

try to plant in blocks with nice straight rows but i am absolutely rubbish at using a hoe to get a straight line (how do you do that?!!  ???) so ends up with my scrabbling aroung with hands trying to make drill which ends up all over place.
