We usually grow garlic.  I have grown a fair few types over the last few years but have settled on Marco as it gives the best results on our plot.  The only place we have seen it is pre-packed in the big nurseries (Dobbies etc) and I wondered if it was available anywhere else?  Out allotment order from Kings never shows up till well into February, and I need to get it into the ground by early November and want to have it in me hot little paw by mid Oct. (I've tried other times but that works best here).

Can anyone recommend a good source of supply that would supply Garlic Marco - and hopefully not charge me an arm, a leg and a mortgage on the Plastic Owl?   :blob7:

Is there any reason that you don't plant from your own production. Why not single out the best of this years crop and store till October, in a cool ,dry airy space. It may take a couple of years to increase your stock sufficiently but hopefully your own will be healthier and less likely to introduce white rot than much that is sold.

That what I am doing this year - got a good strong and healthy crop so I am saving the biggest ones to replant in October.
Moved to Portugal - ain't going back!

I've been growing three varieties which were given to me by Goodlife yonks ago. I save some every year and get a good crop.
however I always grow in tubs as they are overwintering garlic and there is white rot on the plot so I use recycled compost.

Yes the 'Polish' garlic from Goodlife is still going strong here also.

I do the same and take the largest cloves from the largest bulbs for replanting.  Some of my garlic varieties are from the last millenium   :sunny:
