Over on the pest thread a few of us have strayed into tales about our beloved cats.  So I'm moving that discussion here with a picture of Tiger, who adopted us last September.

I am so sorry about this, I swear that when I looked to make sure the picture was on the post, it wasn't there,  just a reclangle with a little cross in it.
Oh well now you've got it twice.
Just in case you hadn't already guessed it, I'm as daft as a brush!

Georgie

MM, that is a fab pic - and so droll - but how come Merlin has gone from grey to brown?

Good question and bear with me as I try to type with him on my lap demanding a cuddle!
He is basically grey but in places particularly underneath he is almost a peachy colour.  And of course like all tabbies each hair is rarely just one colour.  Depending on the light his colour can change and the potted version was taken in bright sunlight and I think before I bought my digital camera.  But I promise it is Merlin but the first photo you saw represents his colour better.
oh that's better he's got off my lap now.  He's not too hot on typing!
I think it's said that all tabby cats have a brown colour in there somewhere, whether they are brown, red or grey.  Even black cats can have a brownish tabby markings in the right light.

So how come Tiger looks exactly like our Twiggy then?
Gardening is the great leveller.

Georgie

Separated at birth?   ;)

Georgie

Awww - another beauty but the ones of him in the pot have disappeared :(

Merlins Mum

Oh bless her enjoying the sunshine.  These cats of ours seem to like living in pots!  ::)
Like her brother she doesn't look her 17 years, must be all the tlc they get.

Here's my 'potted cat' again as the other two seem to disappear.

Georgie

Yay!  Welcome back , Merlin.   ;D

I still can't get over the way he changes colour!

Heldi

Here's my Spook after going out in the rain and then thinking better of it.

Merlins Mum

Heldi, that really made me smile.  I always check emails etc first thing (oops up a bit late this morning) and your picture has given me a really nice start to the day.  Obviously a sensible cat but I bet you didn't get many birds feeding  ???

MM

Merlins Mum

Being nosey, I meant to ask Pat and Heldi, how old are your cats, it's nice to hear a bit about them.
MM

Gardengirl

MM my cats are both 12 years old - will be 13 next month :)
