Last week I posted that I'd picked 4 strawberries. Today I picked a huge bowl full- couldn't believe it. A few had been nibbled but as I've never had much success with strawberries before so I'm really chuffed! :happy7:

Here in North Cornwall we've been picking for just over a week.  In that time we've picked over 10 pounds of fruit and the fruit left to ripen and fruit must be double maybe treble that.  At least. And now the gooseberries are ready to pick.

I've never known a year like it for strawberries.  And the loganberries have what seems to be tons of fruit slowly ripening.  What's going on here.  Was it the very wet mild winter that's responsible for this glut of soft fruit?  I can see a lot of jam making starting in the near future.

It looks to be a stunning year for soft fruit.

If you can keep your head, whilst those around you are losing theirs,
you obviously don't realise the full horror of your situation.

Well done Caroline, what variety are you growing?

Mmm strawberries, I had a big bowl full for breakfast  :sunny:
It does seem a good year for them. Although the pineberries are very poor, only a couple of fruits. I think they must have flowered at a slightly different time and got caught by a rare frost, as many of the flowers had a black centre.

Oh yes, my loganberry's gone crazy this year too. It's loaded.

Strawberries, have made jam, given some away to neighbours, and even the birds are fed up with them. No redcurrants this year, but the old bushes did get a good chop last year.  Not too sure about the raspberries yet, but think it will be a good year for blackcurrants. Its so exciting when there is something to pick and bring home.

Jayb, to be honest I can't remember the variety. I think I got them in a T&M offer a couple of years ago.
