Borlotti

Everytime this peony blooms it rains.  Seems to like the allotment better than it did in my back yard/garden.  This Xmas tree was tiny when planted, now it is too big to bring home.  These mauve flowers seem to attract bees so will keep them.  Am going to keep some stinging nettles in a corner as seem to remember that they are good for insects, also good for my nettle feed for the peas, when they start growing.

N. Herts, just acquired first allotment in Aug 2014.

antipodes

They are lovely! I don't have the space to grow them I am afraid but a neighbour has a beautiful bush with pink ones.
2012 - Snow in February, non-stop rain till July. Blight and rot are rife. Thieving voles cause strife. But first runner beans and lots of greens. Follow an English allotment in urban France: http://roos-and-camembert.blogspot.com
