Hailstones the size of cricket balls this weekend

You can always count on the Daily Express to be alarmist and exaggerate about things:

But if there's a real likelihood of massive hailstorms this weekend, what chances do our newly planted out little plants stand?  I'm about to go out attempting to scrounge a load of fizzy drinks bottles etc so I can give everything that will fit inside them a fighting chance this weekend.

Is anyone else battening down the hatches?

Well, the hailstones certainly came down here about half an hour ago along with thunder and lightening. I will go and see what damage has been done when it clears.

Papers like the weather charts gets it wrong. We were told to prepare ourselves for thunder, heavy downpours,hailstones and whatever else that comes down from the skies but now its sun shine, so think I might take a trip to the allotment and see if I can catchup.

I was woken this morning by the 'potentially DEADLY lightning strikes'. I much prefer the cute and cuddly lighting

I think we managed to escape the worst. I could hear the thunder in the distance.  Bit of a downpour, but actually nice sunny afternoon now.

But more rain will get the slugs even more excited.

Same here!  A bit of heavy rain in the morning and then a lovely sunny day - didn't even hear any thunder.

But remember "Ice stones the size of cricket balls WILL cause devastation across the country" ... and "The resulting carnage WILL trigger tornados!"  - it's that definite!!

One fairly heavy downpour here at 8.30ish this morning and that's been about it. Watching the rain radar most of the morning and there was some serious stuff around.
Hopefully a day on the plot tomorrow, catching up on planting out and weeding, and thanking St. Peter for missing me with his hail!!
