I hope no-one takes this as being boastful, it's just that I am so pleased to now be in the position where a few things are happily growing in the ground and I wanted to share my progress with anyone who may be interested.  :)

Some may remember that I started to clear my Father-in-Laws plot (neglected for 3 or 4 years) at Xmas. Poor chap has been very poorly having had a kidney transplant 7 months ago. The idea was to clear & dig it so that he could spend some of his recovery period down there, only problem is I seem to have become so enthused I have taken over!  :-[

It's 30' x 150' ish and I reckon we have around 20' left to dig. The 1st pic is one looking back up the plot towards the access road at the top.

The 2nd pic is of my garlic happily growing surrounded by shallots (only just shooting) and the bed top right I filled with onions tonight. Broad beans have been sown and the early potatoes will be going in at the weekend. The next set of pictures will probably show loads of weeds germinating. I have removed piles of perennial roots but the bits I missed are already shooting!!

Anyway, if someone had told me I'd be an allotmenteer a year ago I wouldn't have believed them!! Next year I hope to try and tidy it all up a bit more like some of the plots that have been pictured previously on A4A.

Mrs Ava

Looks marvelous!  You brag to your hearts content...we all do it!!  You just need to convince your father in law that he has the most important job of all, chief weeder! ;D

Roy Bham UK

You are a credit to your Father-in-Law, you have done a marvelous job and I wish for you to have an abundance of crops and many more to come. ;)

Moggle

Wow  :o Fantastc job  ;D
Hope your father-in-law enjoys it (and you don't find it too hard to share)
Lottie-less until I can afford a house with it's own garden.

tim

What a lovely site (sight?)!!

Mothy

Thanks folks!

It all still looks a bit untidy, especially where I've put some gooseberries and raspberries. There was point where I would have settled for 1/2 of it dug over and just some potatos in. But it will only be a matter of a few weeks (new arrival permitting) and it will all at least be turned over.

I'm just waiting for the explosion of weeds now  :o

Kerry

wowee! remember your first pictures-there's so much gone into that, well done.
any news on Mrs TimJ yet?

Mothy

Kerry,

What can I say? The light of my life is keeping us all hanging on. Even our 2 yr old little girl is fed up waiting!!

"It will come when it's ready", says my Gran, but I think we'll all be mad by then!  ;D
