I repotted mine into good compost and they are under cover with lots of fresh air but they aren`t doing anything, just looking sorry for themselves. When are you all going to plant out?

Got second lot of leaves on, still in the poly until they get bigger  :happy7:

I planted my first batch outside two weeks ago under bottles and behind straw bales, in trenches so plants below soil level.  Though the frost would have got them but one the bottle blew off, and two have disappeared to slugs the rest are fine.  Most have got two real leaves.

I'm going to plant some courgettes outside this week.  They are too big for their
pots now and are starting to suffer with leaves going a bit yellow.  My other squash,
different courgettes, pumpkins and cucumbers were all potted on into bigger pots
and are doing fine inside the greenhouse so I won't risk those till the second week
of June.

It's so difficult getting the seed-sowing time right.

Mine are in the greenhouse and just starting to get their second set of leaves. I'll pot them up in a day or two and put them into the poly-tunnel to grow on and plant out once they have filled their pots, fingers crossed the weather is kind.

My squash don't seem to be germinating.  I have several varieties but the seeds are several years old.  I will try a few more now it is a bit warmer and maybe start them off on damp kitchen roll.

From trying to chit umpteen seeds of various varieties on damp tissue I have just 7 plants growing apace in the GH  :BangHead:. Feeling a bit fed up with such poor germination - even of seeds from last year's packets - I decided I would try an experiment. On Saturday I poured the squash seeds I had in my shoe box from all the packets and envelopes from seed swaps onto the table , then in batches put them on damp tissue in ziplock bags - a total of 165 seeds (yes, I counted them!). If any of them germinate I shall keep two or three to grow on and any left over I will freecycle or send in plastic bags to anyone here who might like them (they should survive a couple of days 1st class mail). For now, it's a waiting game   :tongue3: and I shall start next year with fresh seeds and complain to the supplier if they don't show a good germination rate.

Yes my squash seeds have been in 2-3 weeks I think - no sign but have had very slow growth for beans too (climbing and dwarf). When I have firkled there is a root starting on the beans so must check the squash too.

This climate change is a bit of a worry!

I've managed to germinate just 1 uchik kuri (out of 3), 3 out of 4 festivals...and NO black futsu OR sweet dumpling....my airing cupboard is full of 'not just linen'!!!!  :BangHead:
I harvested lots of pumpkin seeds from my one fruit last year and 4 of them are like little triffids on the windowsill  :icon_cheers:
N. Herts, just acquired first allotment in Aug 2014.

I planted out a Nutty Delica plant, which has two true leaves, only a couple of days ago. It was a bit of a gamble really. It's still cold and miserable outside and snails and slugs are active in this kind of weather. I still have 3 plants on the windowsill waiting to go outside though. Also have seedlings of Marina di Chioggia in pots, which are outside hence really struggling to put on growth. I just don't have any more windowsill space!
