I noticed somebody already asked with no response on the BirdsEye thread, but does anybody know anything about the pea variety Swallow?

Seems that Swallow is one of BirdsEye`s own brand of maincrop vining peas that they have been using for about ten years. Cant find anything about its height etc., but their frozen peas are tasty enough I suppose.
Doesn`t seem to be enough seeds in packet to make it worthwhile bothering anyway.

Cant find anything about its height etc., Well if it is commercial variety..they won't be much taller than 2-3 ft as all commercial varieties have to be able to be harvested by machines...and they are quite likely to be 'not so leafy' and self supporting too.

Well, I already sowed mine so I guess I'll find out soon enough. There were enough for about a six foot row, planting three aside if that makes sense. I grew field peas once before, that I'd been given by a farmer, so I'm hoping these are equally good.

If they are tasty then keep the seed for next year and build up your stocks.. Thats what I'm going to do..

I got about 4 packets through using friends names and had a good crop. Really tasty pea. I harvested loads of peas to eat and kept loads of seed as well. They are up and away now in their bed so will keep more seed this year again.

Mine are in deep pots and I was hoping for a self supporting dwarf.

Ah well, a few canes and some wire and they'll be fine, I'm sure.

Steve I got them from Birds Eye when they had a promo with seeds.. I can let you have a small handful if you want some.. Then keep seed like I did..
