Cucumber plants

I have 2 Cucumber plants(Socrates) that are about 8" tall.  This time of year they would usually be like triffids filling the greenhouse but I know things are slow due to weather.  Anybody else's still this size?  Debating wether or not to keep them as at this rate it will be too late to produce fruit if they even get to flower let alone grow.  (Tomato and pepper plants are also well below their supposed height for this time of year).

Mine are titchy too and I am wondering the same thing - though as they are £1 a seed jobbies (Carmen and a mini whose name escapes me) I will plant them in the poly after the tomatoes are outside and hope.

Last year, I grew just one plant, a mini on grafted root stock and it cropped very well.  So I'm on the lookout for one of those again this year.

My grafted melons finally arrive this week - "Jumbo Plugs" as good an example of an oxymoron as you will ever find.  They will have to grow like triffids too.  It's been that kind of year.

I think we in the NE are all having the same problems KT mine are not as big as yours yet, some have a lot keel over, its just the fluxuating tempratures we are getting as well as lack of wormth. The northernlies comming of the sea is not helping.
Mind i did take my coat off yesterday, for an hour then i came out of the pollytunnel.

Some of our cukes were like that until a week ago but are now going like a train, so deff keep up with them

Our melons are a bit hit and miss, some havent moved so pulled them up, others are growing slowly,

Mine are only about 6" tall (in a cold greenhouse after starting off in the kitchen) and I've lost 3 out of 6 to neck rot. :(. Keeping fingers crossed for the others.

Whilst my are still titchy, they were doing  okay. Unfortunately I had to go away for a week and asked OH to open GH door daily and keep eye on stuff inside.  He never bothered and I think one of my cuke plants has karked it.  The stem seems okay although rather floppy and there's no rot.  Does anyone reckon that TLC will bring it back to life?

I only sowed my cucs last weeks and they are in seedling stage right now...BUT..I know they WILL not be late as I sow mine end of May every year anyway. Never have enough room in GH for earlier sowings.. :BangHead:
No worries folks...you'll be munching them away soon :icon_cheers: :icon_cheers:
