Anyone tried planting broadies this late, and if so, what were the results? I've just received some Spanish rarities, and if they'll grow now, they'd be isolated from all the earlier plantings, so they'd come true.

I don't think this is going to work this year, as my earlier sowing (in March) is so badly behind that even planting this late isn't going to isolate the second planting. However, I have one variety, Luz de Otono, which I'm told is day length neutral, and can be planted in late summer for an autumn crop. So unless it turns out to be a very hot summer, I'll probably plant them in July and see what happens.

I sowed broad beans every month last year from February to July and they all did extremely well except the july batch.  Though it was not a typical year. I normally reckon to sow a batch late May.

I have plenty of saved seeds so I do not mind if nothing happens, not sure about special types.  Though I grew some I got from Malta and they did not like the cold at all and the later batch did much better.
