Cosmos have been amazing this year.Grown taller than me and covered in flowers.

Problem is they have become too tall...........they have fallen over but the flowers are quite happy. Will put some support round them early next year.

Anybody else had a good year with these?

Yes mine have been wonderful the past few weeks, and should keep flowering until the first frosty night.  I've had to stake most of them as well.
There is a shorter variety Sonata which comes in all the usual Cosmos colours and only grows to two feet.
Flighty's plot,  http://flightplot.wordpress.com,  is my blog.

I love cosmos.

Mine have succumbed to some kind of mildew. It was a little like powdery mildew except for the very distinctive appearance of thin, white, parallel stripes. Most odd. Looked quite attractive in fact, like a neat variegation. But it killed them by a slow death...  :(  So I'm pleased for you both but jealous for myself that yours have been particularly good!

I second recommendation of Sonata, it flowers earlier than the taller types as well. My favourite.

But I think I'll give them a rest next year in case the fungal infection over-winters and reappears.

I tried Double Click Cosmos from seed 2 years ago and won't again because it seemed to have too few flowers and smaller flowers than regular cosmos.

Mine are still flowering their heads off, even though a bit bent over.

Making a mental note to plant lots lots more next year.

Mine should be too, if they hadn't died  :sad10: Usually keep on until the first hard frost.
