I am now coming to the end of my first full season on the plot, and am very pleased with the results, despite a difficult year. For next year I would like to make a cut flower bed to produce cut flowers for the house.
I have allocated an area 14ftx 3ft, raised bed in a sheltered area of the plot. I would like some advice on what you would plant to get flowers throughout the summer.
I already have Daffs and tulips which myself and my plot neighbour have planted last spring in our shared grass path between our plots, I also have a seperate area allocated for my 3 sweet pea wigwams (which were very successful this year), and an area by the allotment boundry fence for sunflowers.
any other advice/suggestions most welcome

many thanks Ian

Cosmos, Zinnias, Asters, Rudbeckias and Moleculla.  Have a look at Sarah Ravens site for inspiration then order the seeds elsewhere!
Best laid plans and all that

i try to grow some flowers where i can save seed from them for the next year.
Orylaya grandiflora is a beauty but next year i shall also grow ammi majus which has bigger umbels.
I particularly like the blue of cornflowers and larkspur. Cosmos and zinnias are easy and have long vase life.
Another addition to my flower bed have been carrots, parsnip both of which have beautiful flowers with a long vase life. any leeks also add an amazing allium flower head that no florest could compete with. (all flowering in their second year)
some of the basal branching sunflowers are good cut flowers, i particularly like pastiche.
I also use Sarah Ravens catalogue for the pictures and then chiltern seeds for the vast variety.
You should find that your whole allotment will benefit from the flowers because of all the beneficial insects that are attracted.

many thanks for the replys folks, I have had a look at Sereh Ravens site and have a few ideas, I also like the idea of a small lavinder hedge, something I never thought of. We are only a small site (7 plots laid out in a strip) and we have laid the bottom fence verge out in meadow/wildflower plants with a small pond, bug hotels & a couple of hedgehog huts and runs the length of the site, we all 'look after' our own little patch. so we get plenty of bees and other benificial wildlife.  Mind you being a rural site we more than our fair share of 'unbenifical' wildlife too!!

many thanks guy's Ian D

Sweet William make lovely cut flowers.

Its far too late to sow them but I noticed they are in the shops for sale for planting out at the moment.

Great idea
I second lots of the suggestions above especially the leeks they are really wonderful bee filled flowers, I also like wall flowers they just fill that early gap really well and heleniums and echinacea for more late colour. You can so lots of things now such as calendula, californian poppies, cornflowers, nigella.

Also want to suggest cerinthe I have some spare seed if youd like some just pm me.
Good luck
