Netting peas

I'm clearly useless at netting peas. I've grown two batches now of mangetout peas on 4ft wide beds (Oregon sugar snap and a purple Shiraz) Both times the pea tendrils made a dash for the surrounding netting that keeps the pigeons off making access to the vines for picking laborious and damaging to the plants. What do the rest of you do?

buy a gun and shoot the pigeons  ;D ;D ;D

Cotton threads strung between canes can help.  They make a slight buzzing noise in the wind and the pigeons do not like the canes or the threads.

I use netting for them to climb on...and to protect the crop I put few canes bit further away and wrap sheet of enviromesh around fastening it with pegs. When it comes to picking the mesh is easily removed and fastened back on....and yes...odd tendril will attach itself now and then but not causing any hassle as such.

We use a piece of chicken wire between 2 canes for them to climb up. Not had much trouble with pigeons eating them. Now, the cabbages  ::)

I've got sparrows who love my peas.. ::)..and as for the cabbages, I can leave them be without cover and they are normally left alone. Pigeons know to go and feast on my neighbours plants and not mine  ;D ;D
