Pictures of Flowers on my allotment...

I've put this link on the wildflower thread but I thought people over here may be interested?

I love flowers and I was accused of having too many on my allotment plot, which I disagree with as they bring in so many beneficial insects.

It has been a bad year for vegetables but my flowers have been lovely.

Your flowers are lovely!

I don't think you can have too many flowers on an allotment.  We have managed to convert even hardened old blokes who in the past would never have grown flowers on their plots.  They see the benefit of all the extra bees and other beneficial insects and many have set aside part of their plot for flowers.

Wonderful pictures, especially like seeing red poppies in among the wildflowers, quite lovely. The bed of lavender must have smelled beautiful. If folks complain about flowers, tell them about the ones with edible petals.

Yes it did look lovely and I actually thought the red poppies where like the icing on the cake. I can't beleive how easy it was to grow the wildflowers, I added no fertiliser or compost/manure and the ground was in a terrible state as it had had the sheds on it.

There are still a few flowers open even now (though it has mainly gone over now), so they lasted five months all in all.

The lavender looked stunning too and it did smell lovely and the bees absolutely loved it.  I try to use everything I possibly could, so I made some really nice lavender cakes, lavender biscuits and lavender lemonade.

All in all, I very pleased with the flowers at the allotment this year
