Have not seen a butterfly for weeks, not even the cabbage white which is usually prolific at this time of year. For the first year ever my solomans seal has not been attacked by the usual saw fly Caterpillar. Slugs in abundance but not even a ladybird have I seen. Snails have not been killed by the pellets as they never crawl on the ground they stay in the foliage for the whole summer. Anyone else noticed the lack of butterflies?

I saw one the other day, but yes, it was memorable in its rarity...  Ladybirds were everywhere around March, but I've only "spotted" the odd one recently, and not seen many snails either.
