Can someone identify these squash or pumpkins please?

Can anyone tell me what these are please?, dont know what they are !

The top one looks like a hubbard type, definately "pepo", the stripes give it away.

The bottom one looks to me like a minature "queensland blue", or something along those lines.

Over the next few weeks they are going to show their true identities for sure. :)

Just looked at the website i got some of them from and its definately a Anna Swartz' Hubbard Squash

The other name doesnt ring any bells

Or a turban type....... Wikipedia says hubbard squash are in the 'maxima' group not 'pepo' as mentioned above.

Yes hubbard is a maxima.  The bottom one is a maxima as well.  It might well be Crown Prince, but I would have also said that Queensland Blue is a contender.  Sweet Meat is a possible too.

I love these guessing games ;D, we gwt them evvery year.

Bottom one has the beginning shape os a Queensland Blue but we all know how things change in this family.

Not all pepos are striped by the way. I even have some striped butternuts.

Did you buy seed of named varieties or are you growing your own (or someone else's) saved seed? I believe squashes cross very freely, so won't necessarily come true to type.

Do you know what named varieties it might be?  if you send us the list of possibles, we could tell you more definately rather than just giving you our best guesses.

Bottom one could be a buttercup type like Burgess or Bon-Bon
