Kestrels as mains?

Does anyone use their Kestrel potatoes as mains as opposed to second earlies?

Just wondered as they seem such good potatoes already and wondered how well they kept etc?

Yes I do!

I grow a few PFA's not particularly as main crop, more as a salad potato.

Between them both I think I get the best of both worlds generally through to March/April

They keep well, and like Tee Gee I used the last ones in March/April.

i use kestrel as my main crop and the usually last me until the beginning of march, we have a lot of wire worms and kestrel don't seem to be affected by them  :)

Same here ;D, although I cant grow enough in my garden to see me over winter :(.

they are the best spuds Ive ever grown,i use them as 2ND early and leave 5 rows in as main crop,they make gorgeous chips,just washed and chipped,(not peeled).they dint seem to suffer from scab or eelworm either,tried a row of osprey last year,they were good but did get small amounts of scab.

I am growing lady christi, charlotte and kestrel. My first time with kestrel and am now hoping for great things. Cara last year were so mushy to cook

Cara's really quite a floury spud, roast or bake, maybe chip..... don't boil or mash too well....

I grow Rocket,Kestrel and Cara. These suit our soil and cook etc. as we like them but surely when we talk of early mid season and late potatoes this is not about how they keep as all varieties will keep otherwise we would not have seed potatoes form early crops. I thought potatoes are the same as peas early ones crop in a shorter time than mid season or late. Some earlies are ready after about 9/10 weeks whereas main crop can take 12/14 weeks.
