The pigeons ate all the lettuce, they were walking under the plastic cloches ,I bought some supermarket cut and come again lettuce, i split it up and planted it , there was loads in the tray ,thought it was quicker than growing the seed again ;D

Then it'll just be the slugs you have to worry about! I resorted to pellets today after seeing what they'd done to my broccoli. >:(

I am so pleased that we don't have pigeons, I planted out lettuce and other greens just last week with no problems.

I am so sorry, it used to be dreadful in the Uk.

yes funnily enough, we don't get many pigeons, yet we are in town. Get little blackbirds and sparrows but they don't seem interested in the greenery.
A lady on our site was growing things under a few clear plastic boxes. Seemed to work. Surely a pigeon couldn't get under those?
2012 - Snow in February, non-stop rain till July. Blight and rot are rife. Thieving voles cause strife. But first runner beans and lots of greens. Follow an English allotment in urban France: http://roos-and-camembert.blogspot.com
