The planets tonight

I've just been stargazing through the scope of my airgun. Venus and Jupiter are very prominent right now, and to my amazement at full magnification (9x) I could actually see three of the moons of Jupiter!

Buzzing now, never thought I'd see that from my own back garden. Made my week.

That's fabulous, i've been sitting on the back step each night listening to the early bats on the detector and admiring the bright planets in the sky. Its been lovely.
Well done spotting the three moons.

I was telling one of the guys at work yesterday, and he reckons his wife is able to see them with her naked eyes.  :o

Through the telescope, venus looked like a semicircle.  ::)  The craters on the moon are very clear along the edge.     Cheers,     Tony.

My OH has just got an app for his iphone- you hold the phone up to the sky and it tells you the names of the stars!
