After having the cataract op on both eyes recently I had to go for final check up today. I can now drive again and I only need glasses for reading. That's what I call a result.

How good is that. I bet you feel a great sense of freedom now Lorna.
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

grannyjanny

What a great way to start 2012. There'll be no stopping you now Lorna ;D.

Grandma

Excellent news Lorna! I'm delighted for you.  :)

My mother had a cataract op on one eye (she was 89 at the time). When she had the bandages removed she was amazed at how the colours of many things appeared. Not what she was expecting but life was suddenly bright and cheerful again!!

My father also had one eye operated on - his long site vision has always been good but now he can read small print better than me so enjoys newspapers again.

(At 96 he is not driving anymore. He wasn't happy when told he must stop but I was more than relieved.  ;) )

Thank you everyone, although the children have been wonderful it is nice to get back my independence. As I have told some friends only downside as far a I can make out is that the craters/wrinkles on my face seem so much deeper.now looking for a cheap barrow load of cosmetic filler lol

louise stella

Yes colours do seem so much brighter!
;D
But what I loved was when I went swimming - the water seemed so clear and sparkly!
On the down side..........I relised I needed to decorate and that someone had slipped a load more wrinkles onto me whilst I wasn't looking!  :-\
Grow yer bugger grow!

When I get my new reading glasses I really must buy one of those chains/cords
that you put round your neck to hold your glasses. I am using my old ones at the moment and I keep forgetting where I have put the flipping things ;D
