We have been to Yorkshire Lavender today and I resisted the temptation to buy plants but was wondering how easy it is from seed?

i grow it from seed every year in pots for SWMBO. piece of cake.
Nothing is ever as it seems. With appropriate equations I can prove this.

Yes, I agree. It's not hard to grow from seed.

1. I sow in autumn and keep them in the conservatory in pots all winter, then plant them out in spring

Ive got some as seedlings at the moment as the french lavendar papillion was in the 4 for 99p at the works.

S.W.M.B.O. comes from one of H. Rider Haggards excellent adventure stories starring Allan Quartermain.     Which story I'm a bit unsure about at this time.     ;D    Cheers,    Tony.

I think it comes from She, though I personally always associate it with Rumpole of the Bailey.

Easy to grow from seed but the best and largest flowers for me come from cuttings which are easy as well.

I've just posted under Non Edibles as I have just grown lavender from seed but the plants don't look like any lavender I know!! It's called Multifida Blue Wonder . According to instructions I keep them in pots and plant them out in autumn for flowering for next year. I've posted the photo again now - do they look like lavender seedlings to you?

fitzsie, do they smell like lavender?
Hi I'm from Heywood, Lancashire

fitzsie

Not overly!!!  I've rubbed the leaves and there is a smell but it isn't distinctive as the lavender I've usually sniffed at!!  Maybe becos it's so young? The packets says it's lavender so I am currently taking there word for it !!!

I grow it to plant between crops,  the bees love it.

I didn't think to search the name of the lavender on the web but yes, looking at that web page I am definitely growing a type of lavender. Relief .......... . In fact I've just checked out another page and they have said it has an Oregano type smell which is correct. I thought I recognised the smell but couldn't put my finger on it.
