The faith does have provisions for burial at sea but only under certain conditions.
I think it's more to do with having no grave or marker for the fundies to associate with him.

Celebrations over the death of one evil man; but let us remember the countless civilians that have died in the hunt for revenge, the billions upon billions of dollars spent, and the level of animosity and hatred we now have created in the world.
