OK having ripped the garden to bits its time to start putting it back together. Does anyone know of a good place to order hedge plants?

I have some very nice young hawthorn and dog rose from these people

Reasonably priced and really well packed.

if you are buying in bulk then these folks from the back of my gardening mag seem reasonable

Have you got any local nurseries that would stock hedging..it is still 'hedge season' for bare rooted plants..lot of nurseries do have them in stock but don't advertise for it...I've often popped in for any nearest nursery while doing a gardening job and rarely been dissapointed...you just have to ask ;)

No we don't have nurseries near us just garden centres who are only good for cups and woolly jumpers. I had a look at buckinghams and now have a pick and mix hedge, thanks. We have some hedge left but its been hacked down (hawthorn) so it will grow back good. It's been let go for too long and had to compete with a leylandi hedge which had the same treatment, we only need to fill in the holes.

did you 'strike' any of the cuttings from the Hawthorn?

this way the hedging plants are free!!
You couldn't make it up!

Twoflower,
I agree with Calendula and Tonybloke.
You can order the type you want to ensure will grow in the soil you have and then add freebies to it from the land around you.
I have stuck with the native hornbeam hedge and will let it grow until it needs laying.
I also have hazel and an oak in the rear for the wildlife to enjoy.

Got them back now to put some tread on them
