When was your last tetanus booster?

1999. cut me instead of the branch, squashed my hand in the car door so very nearly had 2..hmm not my year that year.

Probably about 20 (!) years ago when a door slammed on my finger chopping off the tip!!

It was the last wednesday in March in 1999 - I had a cervical smear (too much info?) and I asked the nurse to ask about the vaccination clinic so I could have a tetanus - she gave it me there and then! So much for my big mouth! Sore arm and sore down there.....

I asked about a tetanus booster last November, stressing the fact that I have an allotment (didn't want the nurse to think I'm a Margot Leadbetter type of gardener!).

Apparently the policy is to vaccinate children with last booster at school-leaving age and thereafter just as needed. Unfortuately, I was waiting for a flu jab at the time and I can't quite remember the reason given for not giving regular boosters but I think it was to do with waste - most adults don't do anything that might give them tetanus.

I always keep a basic 1st-aid kit in the shed - just antiseptic wipes, plasters and something for stings/bites. Hopefully, if anything serious happens those will give some protection until I can get further attention.
