I think I may have gone a bit overboard with the wood chippings!

When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

You can't have too many chippings...
unless you have a honey fungus problem that is...
Looking good Betty.  :)

goodlife

Yes..looking very tidy...once those chippings start to bed in I think you find that you got the amount just right ;) ;D

The chippings are only on the paths, so if there was honey fungus would that affect the things I grow?

Not really... nothing much grows once Honey Fungus has taken over.....

I've seen your plot and the site in general... you haven't got a problem with it... but if somebody had putting chippings down would be a bad move...
Sorry if I got you worried...  :-X

I have bark chipping paths.Nothing wrong with them as long as you leave some growing space.

Amazing Rotivator:

Never mind your bark chippings, I'm deeply envious of those green tent-style cloches you have on your plot!  They're exactly what I need on mine  ;D  Can I be very cheeky and ask where you got them, please?

I made them myself out of water pipe and debri netting. Also made a net tunnel for my brassica's

saddad

He is rather "handy" like that. He's not our site bu the next one just over the road...  :)

EnglishRose

Clearly I am going to have to kidnap you to build some of those structures for my plot  ;D

Seriously, though, I'm dead impressed.  In fact, I'm going to steal your idea!  Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is 'water pipe' - will I find it at my local Homebase?  What about 'debris netting'?  I'm reasonably handy once pointed in the right direction, but being a complete novice to this world I need the obvious spelt out in words of one syllable or less....

Meantime, back to bark chippings.  I'm dead impressed with the piccies on here - looks great!

Amazingrotavator(Derby)

Here's a close up. 4 pieces of 2"x1" screwed in a square for the base. Water pipe cut to length,( I bought some more the other day from Screw Fix Direct 50mtrs £20 but can be bought at B&Q).Cut to what ever length you like. The netting is from Scaffold Direct web site,(Just over £20 for 50mtrs). Just stretch over your water pipe and staple to the 2"x1" base. I painted the pipe and base with bitumen primer so won't rot. I did that before attaching the net by the way. I hope this helps.

That is fabulously helpful - thank you so, so much!

Now, I wonder, would it be terribly naughty of me to make this up all on my own and then let my father and boyfriend think that I came up with that idea myself?  ;D  ;D  ;D

Amazingrotavator(Derby)

Why not, I won't say owt ;)
